In Denmark, everyone between the ages of 18 and 65 must have a fishing license in order to fish in publicly available fishing waters. Fisheries control occasionally checks whether anglers have redeemed their fishing license. The fishing license can be purchased as a day, week or year card.
The income from the sale of fishing licenses go to a good cause. The amount goes to fish care, such as fish release, stream restoration, which helps the development of fish stocks, and new knowledge about fish behavior.
